Bigfoot body found?

If you haven't heard already (you probably have) a couple of guys in Georgia claim that they have found a dead Bigfoot. As expected, there are many that are calling this a hoax. Today, reporters grilled the men that are behind the claim. Rightfully so, as this is not the first time one of these men have claimed to have found a Bigfoot. That first claim turned out to be a hoax.

DNA tests are supposedly in progress and the men are sticking to their claims that this is the real deal.

Stay tuned, this could be a huge story in the making!

New Episodes of Monster Quest.

I was checking my channel guide the other day and noticed that there are new episodes of Monster Quest on the History Channel. There are at least two new episodes that I know of, one has to do with a supposed Vampire-like creature that is killing domestic animals in rural North Carolina. The other episode is about Ghosts. I have yet to watch these episodes, but I have set my DVR to pick them up next time they are aired.

So, for you Monster Quest fans out there, set your DVRs!

Also of note, I am in the process of reading The Beast Of Bray Road by Linda S. Godfrey. So, stay tuned for my upcoming review of this book.

Destination Truth Season 2.

Well, unfortunately for fans like me, Destination Truth season 2 finished last week. After seeing the entire season, one feeling stood out: disappointment. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the show. It is very entertaining and Josh Gates is one of the most witty and intellectual TV personalities I have seen in a while. Let's just say it, he makes the show. Now, some may disagree. You may say, "it's the search for the creatures that make the show!". That is a large part of the appeal, but Josh ties it all together in a fun-to-watch way.

So, let me get back to why I felt disappointed about the show this season. They didn't find anything, well other than a supposed yeti track. That's basically it. Now, I enjoy the stories of the creatures and the search for them in the dead of night is a nice touch. However, I felt like there was little to no progress made on the search for any of the creatures they looked for. You can't blame the effort, they travel around the globe for Pete's sake. I don't know, I just feel a bit let-down.

I do hope the show comes back for another season, or 5. Maybe next time they can actually look in the good ole' US for some creatures. I just hope this time they find something, anything.

Here's to hoping they come back. Who knows, I may try and contact Josh myself and see if he permit me to do a little interview with him.

Destination Truth back on March 5th.

As most of you know, I am a big fan of the Destination Truth show on the Sci-fi Channel. Well, much to my delight, the new season of the show starts on Wednesday March 5th! So, set those DVRs!

On the subject of Cryptozoological-related TV shows, the Monster Quest show on the History Channel wrapped up it's first season a few weeks ago. The final episode of the show was one of special interest to me. It was about the sightings of a wolf/man/bigfoot-like type creature in the wilds of Wisconsin. Many people may recognize it from it's 'given' name: The Beast Of Bray Road. For years, I have had much interest in the stories of this alleged creature. Maybe it is due to the 'werewolf' aspect of these sightings or maybe it's due to the amount of sightings that have been and continue to be reported. That's right, sightings of creature are still being reported to this day!

Well, I did enjoy this episode of Monster Quest as it dealt with numerous sightings and actually went through the trouble of giving lie-detector tests to several of the people who reported sightings. As for the results of the tests; well, I won't spoil it for you. Watch the show, it's a great episode and good finale to a great season of this series. Let's hope it comes back for another season!

Memoirs of a Monster Hunter... not so much.

So, I finally finished Nick Redfern's recent book Memoirs of a Monster Hunter: A Five-Year Journey in Search of the Unknown. Redfern is well-known in UFO circles and has written numerous books on the paranormal. Paranormal... not something that I normally associate with Cryptozoology but for Redfern it most certainly does.

This book documents Redfern's experiences while searching for reports and stories of 'Monsters' across the US (mostly Texas). While the book does lean towards the paranormal , it does have what I would loosely describe as Cryptozoological sections. There are chapters on Bigfoot, a lake serpent, the Chupacabras and the Beast of Bray Road. There are several other chapters that deal with Goat-men, spirits, spectral zombies, feral women, as well as others.

Looking at the list of subjects covered, one would think that this book would be full of sightings, reports and stories of encounters with these 'monsters'. While, the beginning chapters do have an adequate amount of stories from various sources, mostly from people living in Texas, since that is where Redfern was living while writing this book. Even though Redfern does tend to give a paranormal spin to the encounters, these stories and reports do make for an entertaining read. However, once these stories start to diminish towards the middle chapters of the book that's where things start to stray.

Now, I don't mind reading about a writer's various experiences while writing a book. I mean, the book does have the word 'Memoir' in the title afterall. However, Redfurn's book has a lot, and I mean a lot of personal stories. Not stories of 'Monsters' as one would expect, but stories of plane rides, hotel stays, restaurant meals, conference speaking engagements, and what can only be described as meaningless coincidences. By the end of the book, I was having a very tough time plowing through the last chapters because of the endless stories of what Redfern had to eat one night and what he drank and what effect that had on his digestive tract. That is the main problem I had with this book.

Now, I know that I am no Pulitzer Prize winner. However, I do know what I like and for the most part, I did not like this book. If you are looking for a book that deals with sightings and reports of Cryptozoological creatures in a scientific manner, look elsewhere. Although, if you want to read about the mundane adventures of Nick Redfern in countless airports and restaurants; well, look no further.

Destination Truth on SciFi Channel returning!

For the fans of Destination Truth on the SciFi channel, you will be happy to hear that the show is returning with new episodes this Spring. It seems that the subject of Cryptozoology is really starting to catch on. I have also heard that the Monster Quest series on the History Channel is doing quite well and is getting decent ratings.

I am a big fan of both shows, especially Destination Truth. The first season this past year was a big surprise for me and quickly became one of my favorite shows on TV.

So, set your DVRs! Shows like this don't come around too much, catch them while you can.

Well, it certainly has been a while since I have updated this blog. A series on the History Channel has brought me back here to update. The series is called Monster Quest. You can view the website for the show here. The series is actually very well done. One of the best series of Cryptozoology related shows I have ever seen.

I do plan on returning to this site and updating more regularly. I know there are other Cryptozoology-related sites out there with far more resources and name recognition than I have. That may have initially deterred me from returning here, but not anymore. I want to return to this blog and post news and stories from the field of Cryptozoology.

I hope my readers return as well.

Serpent-Like Creature Filmed at Lake Champlain

I was looking for some Cryptozoology news stories to post here and ran across a surprising new video.

The video, was taken on Lake Champlain by a couple of local fisherman.

After watching the video, one can easily make out what appears to be a serpent-like creature underneath the surface of the water. Other bits of the video show the creature swimming, that too appears to be serpentine in nature.

I invite all of my readers to watch the video and make your own conclusions. It is very interesting to say the least.

Weekly Update

Now that the Crypto-Blog is back I am going to try weekly updates for a while. I will still update throughout the week, especially if something of great Cryptozoological importance happens.

So, let's get to the news shall we?

1. The hunt for Bigfoot continues in Malaysia.

As I have reported a few times on this blog, Malaysia seems to be the hotbed of Bigfoot sightings and news this year. Since several sightings late last year, there has been a surge of interest in the area. So much so, that Malaysia is launching expeditions to search for the creatures.

2. The Creature Appreciation Week photo contest ends.

I have reported on this contest recently and expressed my dislike for it due to it's encouraging of fake photographs. The contest itself is now over, submissions ended on February 3rd.

As some of you know, Loren Coleman is involved with the contest as can be seen in an interview on the Duel Masters website. Knowing that Loren is involved and that the contest is aimed towards children I am willing to give it a chance. However, I still have reservations about the whole thing as I believe it will just encourage people to fake more photographs which in turn could hurt the field of Cryptozoology. I guess time will tell.

3. British government planned to hunt Nessie with dolphins.

As much as this sounds like a tabloid story, it appears it was true. The Mirror, a UK newspaper is reporting that according to declassified documents, officials in Margaret Thatchers regime planned to hunt for Nessie with dolphins imported from America.

It appears that the dolphins were going to be trained to hunt for the supposed creature in the loch while strobe lights and cameras were attached to their backs. I don't think the project got too far off the ground however. Thinking about it though, I suppose the plan could have worked. With dolphin's echo-location they could have been trained to search for large objects in the loch. We all know that dolphins were and probably still are being trained by the military to do various duties such as finding underwater mines.

Still, this is a strange story.

4. Supposed dead Chupacabra turns out to be Coyote.

There has been a story (graphic picture)out for a while about a weird animal that was shot in Texas. Some people even said that it may be the legendary Chupacabra.

Well, the dead creature turned out to be a hairless coyote.

Downtime

I apologize for the downtime recently on the Crypto-Blog. It seems that during recent maintenance Blogger deleted all of my current blogs, including this one.

It has taken nearly two weeks to have the Crypto-Blog restored.

I apologize for the lack of updates the Crypto-Blog this past week or so. I am in the process of changing jobs and moving so the updates may be a bit sparse for a little while.

What I may do however, is a weekly recap of Cryptozoology stories.

Cryptozoology Photo Contest

I am sure most of you are aware of the $1 million reward that was announced last year by Dual Masters trading cards(owned by Hasbro). The reward was "to encourage the public to assist in the safe capture of a Bigfoot, Yeti, Lake Monster, Sea Serpent, or other cryptozoological specimen" .

A few days later, it was announced that the reward was retracted due to safety reasons.

However, there was another contest announced soon after that. In this contest Dual Masters were going to offer smaller cash prizes for "the best photos that help to perpetuate the mystique surrounding legendary creatures".

Personally, I have had mixed feelings about this contest. If you go to the Dual Masters website you will see the news about the contest as part of their "Creature Appreciate Week" which started in late October.

My first concern, are the photos they have on the site. Now, I am sure these are just there to promote the contest but they are all obvious fakes. Most done with photographic manipulation techniques, i.e. Photoshop.

What most alarms me though is what is stated in the rules for the contest:

Entrants may use photography tricks and/or staging of props and/or other elements within the photograph in their attempt to create a photograph that helps further the myth and allure of finding a mythical beast.

That right there tells me they do not want legitimate photographs of these creatures. They want fakes.

In my opinion, this is not what Cryptozoology needs. This would just encourage people to submit fake photographs for this contest. If we are ever to legitimize these creatures we need serious, scientific study. Not contests like this.

I have some more news about this contest as well. I won't write about it right now. I will very soon though.

More Malaysian Bigfoot News

Malaysia, it seems could already be the Bigfoot hotspot of the year. With so many news reports and sightings coming from the Southern Malaysian Jungles as of late.

A recent article tells more details about what is happening in Malaysia recently. I guess you could call it "Bigfoot Fever".

The article goes into a little detail about how there are plans to capture the creature on film using motion-sensor cameras placed in the jungle. Which I think is a great idea, since these cameras have been recently used to uncover a new species of mammal in the jungles of Borneo.

In the article there is also a story of a Bigfoot being shot and killed a few years back in a neighboring state. However, when a zoologist went back a year after the shooting the carcass was no longer there.

I do hold out hope that something will be found in the jungles of Malaysia. Something that will make scientists around the world sit up and take notice.

Stabilized Patterson Footage

Now, we have all seen the famous Roger Patterson/Bob Gimlin Bigfoot video before. The grainy, shaky video is ingrained in most people's minds when they think of Bigfoot.

The video's authenticity has been in question since it was filmed in 1967. Since then it has been featured in just about any and every TV show about the creature.

What some of you may not have seen is a stabilized version of the footage.

In this version, each frame is meticulously compared to the last and lined up. When it is played back the camera shake is accounted for and the main part of the image is stable. There is also another movie on the page that repeats and zooms in on a few key frames of the footage.

Now, I don't want to bring up the old debate of whether or not this footage was of a real, unidentified primate or just a guy in a suit. I do think this stabilized video was pretty interesting though, and worth a mention.

So, sit back and enjoy this update on a piece of Bigfoot history.

Hunt for Bigfoot in Malaysia

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday vacation, now lets get back to some Cryptozoology news.

It seems that there have been some sightings of a Bigfoot-type creature in the jungles of Malaysia. So much so, that the Johor National Parks Corporation is planning to catch the creature on camera.

The eye-witness descriptions of the creatures are very similar to reports from the United States. The creatures are reported to be about nine feet tall, covered in hair and possess a strong odor.

Now, I am all for scientific expeditions to determine the existence of these creatures.

However, why do I feel somewhat skeptical that serious, scientific studies will be conducted then?

"We are sitting on a wonderful opportunity by way of the Bigfoot research to spur ecotourism in Johor, taking the cue of Loch Ness in Scotland," Chow said.

He said the Bigfoot of Endau-Rompin could be promoted like the Loch Ness monster, which brings in millions of tourism dollars for Scotland through tours and souvenirs.

Is this just a case of sensationalism in order to bring tourists into the area that supposedly has had these sightings?

I can't answer that for sure. Let's just hope that real science doesn't take a backseat to tourism and marketing ploys.

On The Lighter Side

All of you who read my blog, know that I take the subject of Cryptozoology very seriously.

Having said that, I do like the humorous side of things as well. So, speaking of humorous, I ran across an interview with none other than Bigfoot himself.

This interview is actually related to a book that has recently come out called "Me Write Book: It Bigfoot Memoir". The title should tell you that it is meant as a joke. I have yet to read the book but I am planning to and will give a full review soon.

For now though, let me leave you with a memorable quote from the interview with Bigfoot:

Q: Pardon my asking, but what's the deal with your, um, scent?

A: Bigfoot have interesting natural musk. It very masculine, very European. Smell like leather, ocean, ranch salad dressing and cat puke. Ladies go crazy for it.

So, just crack a smile(I know you want to) and enjoy the interview.

"Cat-like" Creature Seen in Ohio

Cryptozoology-related news is kind of slow lately, as some of you may have noticed.

There is an article however about a "cat-like" creature spotted in Granville, Ohio area. The article contains several photos of the animal, a few of which you can see below:

The first thing I think when I see the pics; this is just a normal house cat. I see nothing to convince me otherwise.

However, the man in this article, who took these pictures is adamant that the animal is quite large. He estimates it weighed as much as 80lbs and had a tail that was 3ft long.

Without proper measurements, the scale in the photographs is hard to determine. The trees that the cat is walking amongst could be quite small or quite large. It is difficult to tell.

Right now, I am sticking with my original feeling about these photos. This is nothing more than a large house cat. Although, it is not uncommon for captive wild animals to escape or be released in this country. So, I suppose time will tell what the animal really is.

New Mammal Species Possibly Discovered

The World Wildlife Fund has announced that it has pictures of a mysterious mammal species from the jungles of Borneo.

The animal, which has been described as resembling a mix of a cat and a fox was photographed twice by motion-sensor cameras setup in the jungle.

Here are small versions of the original pictures:

As you can see from the pictures, the animal does somewhat resemble a lemur but scientists are almost certain that the animal is a new species of carnivorous mammal.

If you want to view the original, higher resolution pictures you can go here and here. The originals are of somewhat poor quality, most likely due to them being taken at night. They are of good enough quality however to convince scientists that this is a new species.

Maybe the WWF should put some motion-sensor cameras in the forests of the pacific northwest or other areas of concentrated Bigfoot sightings. I wonder if they would capture anything. I wonder if they did capture anything, would scientists be so eager to declare a new species of primate. Somehow, I think not.

There just seems to be a taboo when it comes to Bigfoot and Cryptozoology that most people just discard them as something paranormal or nothing but a hoax.
For example, as I was watching CNN today and they had this story about the new mammal discovery in Borneo. The CNN show was Anderson Cooper 360 I believe. Anyway, he was talking about the photos and saying that he didn't believe it. He said the photos were too much like a Yeti sighting. That he just wouldn't believe it.

If people won't believe photos like these from a respected wildlife organization like the WWF are real then how are they going to believe that photos and videos of Bigfoot are real. I guess some people just don't want to take the time to do the research. They just want to live their lives, oblivious to anything that may burst their fragile, little bubble.

There is a larger world out there, one that is full of mystery and discoveries waiting to happen. As a matter of a fact, if it wasn't for our sense of wonder then most of us reading this right now would not even exist.

New Bigfoot Pics

Well, they are purpoted to be pictures of Bigfoot anyway.

As with most supposed Bigfoot photos, there isn't much detail in these. A video of this encounter would have certainly been better. Although, in the photos one can see what appears to be a humanoid figure on the other side of a snowy hill. From the sequence of the photos, the figure may be walking down the other side of the hill away from the cameraman.

The scale of the figure and the hill is hard to determine. It does appear to be a large hill from the photos, as one can see what appears to be pine trees on the right side. If you also look closely in the photos, you will see that there appears to be many tracks leading up the hill to where the figure is.

I can't say for certain what made these tracks, it could be people, animals or even Bigfoot.

Until someone visits the site of this encounter and determines the scale of the figure photographed, we can't know for sure what is in those pictures.

Anything can be faked nowadays so let's hope someone visits the area soon and comes back with an update on this.

New Loren Coleman Interview

Browsing around the web as I usually do, I ran across the Phenomena Magazine website which has a recent interview with Loren Coleman.

The interview, which has three parts, is probably the most in-depth interview I have ever read when it comes to Loren Coleman. It goes back all the way to his childhood, how he became interested in Cryptozoology, about his day job (he is retired now), John Keel, his thoughts on Bigfoot being captured and even a bit on the Loch Ness Monster.

A very good read for anyone who would like to know a little bit more about the most influential person in Cryptozoology today.

Bigfoot News

I hope everyone had a nice long Thanksgiving weekend, for those of you who celebrate it. Now, it's time to get back to business.

The BFRO.net site has a news story about a video that was taken in New York State about 8 years ago.

The footage (there is a link to the video on the page) is dark and of somewhat poor quality. When watching the video, keep your eye on the tree behind the man speaking. You will see, what appears to be something swinging in the tree.

The BFRO site claims that the thing swinging around in the tree in the background is a baby Sasquatch or an ape. They seem to discount a monkey, as they think it would be too small. They also claim that the ape explanation is unlikely because of laws banning the ownership of such animals in that area of the country.

After watching the video a few times, I am not sure what to make of it. There does appear to be something swinging in the tree in the background. What that something is, I can't tell. I don't think anyone can tell with certainty what is in the tree.

The video is intriguing, but inconclusive. That's usually the problem with videos like this. They are usually of poor quality. We sometimes get to see a good-quality video of Bigfoot. Most of the time however, these are declared to be hoaxes.

Unfortunately, I don't think a video is going to solve the Bigfoot mystery. We are going to need physical evidence to figure this out once and for all.

Amateur Bigfoot Video

I was browsing the web, looking for some interesting news stories and ran across this site. The site has a video on it that is purportedly of Bigfoot, actually a couple of Bigfeet it appears. According to the website, the video was shot in Sonoma County in California.

From the video you can see something cross from right to left down the hill, then a few seconds later as he pans the camera over you can see another one cross from left to right closer to the cameraman. At this point he appears to make the amateur mistake of trying to zoom in way to far and the whole thing goes out of focus. Before it goes out of focus at the end, you can still make out how the thing walks. Which is somewhat like the creature (or person) filmed in the famous Patterson video.

Of course, the first thing I asked after watching the video was "Is it real?". I can't answer that unfortunately. I do know that this is either a video of some large, unknown hominids or it video of a couple of guys in fur suits. Unfortunately, there are a lot of hoaxes out there when it comes to sightings like this. Anyone can buy a gorilla suit and go walk around in the woods while their friend films them.

I am leaning towards the hoax side of the fence on this one right now. It is hard to determine either way though.

I would like your opinions on it as well.

Mysterious 'Blobs' Debunked

There are many stories of mysterious 'blobs' or 'globsters' washing up on beaches across the world. These sightings have been documented for over 100 years now. In the past a lot of these 'blobs' were thought to be the carcasses of The Giant Octopus.

Well, the chairman of the Biology Dept. at the University of South Florida believes these 'blobs' have a much more mundane explanation. More specifically, he believes these 'blobs' are whale blubber.

The article goes into detail about what happens when a whale dies. The blubber becomes separated from the skeleton of the whale. This blubber then washes up on shore. That is a simplified explanation of what happens.

I do believe that some, if not most of the 'blob' or 'globster' sightings can be attributed to whale carcasses. However, there are a lot of mysterious creatures in the world's oceans. Many of which we have yet to identify.

Until the oceans are fully explored, we can only sit back and wonder about what creatures live beneath the waves. To me, that sense of wonder is what makes Cryptozoology so fascinating.

Swedish Lake Monster News

Maybe some of you have heard of Storsjo, the lake monster that supposedly inhabits Lake Storsjon in Sweden.

Well, for years now, Storsjo has been under protection by being on the endangered species list. A list normally used for known animals that are thought to be endanger of becoming extinct.

Not in this case. See, Storsjo's existence has never been scientifically proven. Well, this question about it's existence has prompted Swedish officials to remove the creature from the endangered species list.

Being on that list, it was illegal for a anyone to actively go out and hunt the creature. That protection no longer exists.

Of course, I understand this decision. The creature's existence hasn't been proven yet, so why protect something that may not be there. However, I don't think you can make that argument to the numerous people who have sighted something in the lake.

Bigfoot = Gigantopithecus?

For a while now, some Bigfoot researchers have believed that Bigfoot is actually a direct descendant of an ancient primate called Gigantopithecus Blackii. Gigantopithecus bones were discovered in Hong Kong about 80 years ago. The ape was believed to be almost 10ft tall when upright and could have weighed nearly 1,200lbs.

There is now some evidence that this primate could have lived among early humans for as long as a million years. These primates were believed to have become extint about 100,000 years ago.

Knowing this is a representation of the creature, it still strikes me how much it resembles eye-witness accounts of Bigfoot. I am not saying Bigfoot is Gigantopithecus Blackii, but if we are trying to scientifically explain the existence of Bigfoot, then I think this is a plausible theory.

Maybe news stories like this will show that Bigfoot is not a figment of the imagination or a product of pop culture. Here is scientific evidence that a creature fitting Bigfoot's description lived alongside humans.

Who's to say it doesn't still live alongside humans?

China's Loch Ness

I was doing my usual web surfing and ran across an article about Lake Kanasi in China. More specifically, the article is about 'Kanasi Huguai'; China's Loch Ness Monster.

Purportedly, the lake is home to a large or a number of large creatures. Many tourists visit it each year in search of the creatures and there are some descriptions of sightings in the article.

"It's fish. Giant fish, some about 15 meters (50 feet) long." Says Yuan Guoying, a researcher at the Xinjiang Institute of Environmental Protection. Yuan has been studying the lake and the supposed creatures since a sighting 20 years ago.

Yuan and his team have concluded that the lake contains at least dozens of these fish, a type of large Salmon, and are about 30-50ft long and weigh as much as 4 tons.

This is the first time I have heard of 30-50ft fresh-water fish. If this conclusion is proven to be true, that would be a huge discovery. No pun intended.

I am going to do some more research on this lake and see what I can find out. The article mentions pictures of the creatures as well. I hope to find some more info on this and if I do, you can be sure I will post it on this blog.

More Texas Bigfoot News

Texas has been the spot for Bigfoot news lately. I am sure a lot of it has to do with the Texas Bigfoot Conference last month and the recent Bigfoot lecture in League City Texas. However, Texas does have it's share of sightings.

This most recent news article has some sighting reports from a couple who live in the Eastern part of Texas. They go into detail on how the creature smells.

"It's wasn't a skunk." says the woman. Then her husband goes into more detail; "It's like gettin' behind a gut wagon, in the summer."

Which I assume means that the creature has a rotting-flesh smell. Which goes in line with other reports of how the creatures smell.

The article also goes into some detail about how the Texas Bigfoot Research Center conducts it's business. How they go out into the forests, dressed in Camo with thermal and night-vision equipment. They also use the call-blasting method. This usually entails some loud-speakers and a supposed recording of other Bigfeet from other sightings. They blast these recordings in hopes of attracting one of the creatures.

Of course, the article also gives some of the skeptics a chance to speak their mind. More specifically, a group called the North Texas Skeptics.

All in all, it's a pretty good read.

Loren Coleman Interview

No, I didn't conduct this interview but I am in contact with Loren to have an interview with him. Hopefully, this will happen in the near future.

Until then, you can read a small interview with Loren on MaineToday.com. Loren currently lives in Portland, Maine.

The interview covers a bit of Loren's thoughts on Bigfoot. More specifically, the difference between Bigfoot sightings in the east and Bigfoot sightings on the west coast. It seems that sightings in the east have a more aggressive tone than ones in the west. Something I wasn't aware of.

In the interview Loren is also asked about local cryptids in the Maine area. He mentions a sea serpent called Cassie, some black panther sightings and Bigfoot sightings. The story about Cassie was particularly interesting.

It is a nice short interview that just reaffirms my admiration for Loren.

I just wanted to say Happy Halloween to all of you out there. It is one of my favorite holidays for sure.

Of course, there is a bit of news to report on the Cryptozoology front as well.

The Waco Tribune-Herald has a story about Daryl Colyer, a Bigfoot researcher with the Texas Bigfoot Research Center.

You will remember Colyer from a story I posted a few days ago about a recent Bigfoot lecture.

This article gives a little history about Daryl and his search for Bigfoot in the Texas Forests.

It also goes into explaining that the guys that are doing this field work, looking for Bigfoot, are doing it at their own expense. There are no grants for this kind of work. Such is the story with most Bigfoot researchers.

I think there needs to be a push for more funding into this research. I am sure there are some large corporations who would like their company name tied to the first actually discovery of a large North-American primate.

Now, the $1 million bounty from a few weeks ago was a start, but that fell through. These researchers need big money to look for these creatures. Sure, I know that's easier said than done, but without it, we may never know the truth.

Loren Coleman Article

Through my normal news searches, I found an article on the Southern Illinois website.

The article goes a little in-depth with the history of Loren Coleman. Anyone who follows Cryptozoology knows who Loren Coleman is. Loren has written over two dozen books on the subject and has had numerous TV appearances.

The article digs a bit into Loren's past, mainly his college days at Southern Illinois University Carbondale(SIUC).

It also mentions his recent endeavor with the Wizards Of The Coast and their 'Creature Appreciation Week'. You will remember the Wizards Of The Coast from the short lived $1 million bounty, that was quickly withdrawn.

Loren Coleman is one the main reasons why I am so interested in Cryptozoology. Having read a few of his books when I was younger, it drove me to search for the truth when it came to the subject of Cryptozoology. I have spoken with Loren on a few occasions and not only is he a very intelligent man, he is also very down-to-earth and just a really nice guy.

A History Of Bigfoot

It seems that Texas is the popular spot lately when it comes to Bigfoot conferences and such.

At the College Of The Mainland, in League City Texas there will a lecture this Friday, the 28th of October at 6:30PM.

The lecture is entitled, "Bigfoot, Sasquatch at COM". Daryl Colyer, a freelance Bigfoot researcher and Craig Woolheater, director of the Texas Bigfoot Research Center in Dallas, will be presenting the lecture.

I actually think the chances of a Bigfoot-type creature existing in Texas are quite reasonable. Texas has a large amount of unpopulated forests, and as people encroach on this habitat, it is not unreasonable to think that they might start running into these creatures more and more.

Oklahoma has had quite the surge of sightings in the last several years as well.

Could this area of the country surpass the Pacific Northwest as the mecca for Bigfoot sightings?

Only time will tell.

$1 Million Reward Retracted

This may come as bad news to some of you out there; It appears that the $1 million dollar bounty, that Loren Coleman announced at the Texas BF Conference last weekend, has been retracted.

A Hasbro owned company, The Wizards Of The Coast, was the one who was going to sponsor the bounty. The Wizards of The Coast is mostly known for it's Magic The Gathering games.

The bounty was withdrawn due to safety concerns for the people involved and the creatures that may be harmed in the process.

The company is sponsoring another photo contest, however the prizes for that are much less than the $1 million originally planned.

Here is a quote from the article:

Instead, Duel Masters is sponsoring a photo contest that provides a guaranteed first prize of $5,000 for the photo that best perpetuates the mystique surrounding the hunt for the legendary creatures Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster and/or Yeti. A second place prize winner will receive $2,500, and three third place winners will receive $500.

More details about the new photo contest will be revealed in a few days on their site.

Overall, I still like idea of a photo contest that gets people out there looking. Maybe the $1 million was too much and that is why they decided to pull it. Money can make people do crazy things.

When I heard about the reward last week, I was also concerned about the number of inevitable hoaxes that could be passed off as real pictures of Nessie or Bigfoot. Amazing things can be done by digital manipulation these days. All of these hoaxes may have hurt the real search for these creatures in the long run.

Bigfoot Conference News

Well, I am sure that most of you know of the highly publicized Texas Bigfoot Conference over the weekend. The story has been in most news papers and on TV as well.

From all appearances, the conference was a huge success.

One of the biggest, if not the biggest stories from the conference is Loren Coleman's $1 million bounty.

All of the details have not been announced yet, but it appears that the bounty will be paid by a company(not named at this time) for photographic evidence that leads to the safe capture of Bigfoot, Yeti or the Loch Ness Monster. More details will be revealed at the Bates College Symposium on the weekend of Halloween.

This is an exciting time for Cryptozoology. We all know how great it would be if this reward led to the capture of one of these creatures. I just hope that if there is a capture, these creatures will be protected and not exploited. It would be a travesty to watch as these creatures were wiped from the earth not long after they were discovered.

All in all though, I do hope something comes of this.

'Jungle Yeti' Evidence

Well, now that the main redesign of the Crypto-Blog is done, it's time to start posting again.

The BBC website has an article about new evidence of the 'Jungle Yeti' in the jungles of Sumatra.

The 'Jungle Yet' or "Orang Pendek" to some is thought to be an upright walking ape of some sort. I suppose it could be described as a smaller version of the American Bigfoot or Sasquatch.

The Orang Pendek story is one of the more plausible Cryptids. There have been sightings for nearly 100years now. There have also been many sightings of footprints and scientific examinations done on unknown hair samples found in the Sumatra Jungle that show they came from an unidentified species.

The two explorers who made these recent discoveries are planning to write a paper about their findings.

If these findings lead to the discovery of an unknown primate in the jungles of Sumatra, that could lend credence to all of the other unknown primate sightings across the world.

I will stay with this story and if there any developments, I will post them here.

Bigfoot. All in Your Head?

I was reading an article on the Chicago Tribune site and I would like to post a few thoughts on it.

The article starts off dealing with some recent Bigfoot sightings in Illinois. Specifically Seneca, IL. However, shortly into the article they bring the skeptics in to say their two cents. No less that one Sociologist and two Psychologists speak in the article. Basically, debunking all of the sightings in the area.

One type of a believer is a person really fascinated by something strange, but who typically doesn't have much background in science, or found science hard or boring growing up," Alcock said. "But if they jump on the bandwagon with flying saucers or Bigfoot, they think that they're doing some sort of science. And that in some way they're a `real' scientist at the forefront of trying to make a discovery."

This coming from a Psychologist and member of CSICOP.

Now, I am not saying there is a Bigfoot or any unknown creature in the Seneca, IL area. What I am saying, is why does mainstream science and the media always treat this subject like it is a mental problem. Basically saying all of these people who have reported sightings are seeing things that aren't there.

Why does science treat eye-witness accounts as unreliable info, yet our entire justice system is built on witness testimony?

I understand, science needs a physical specimen, a body, but how is that ever going to happen if the sightings and reports continue to be treated as if they are figments of the imagination?

What these psychologists and sociologists behind their desks in their plush offices don't realize, is that there is real science going on. There are people out there in the field, looking for these creatures among others and I believe, one day, they will be found.

Unfortunately, until then, I fear this close-mindedness will continue.

Reward for Cryptozoological Specimen!

For those of you who always thought about actually going out in the wild and looking for a cryptid, but never thought you had the time, how's this for motivation!

At the upcoming Texas Bigfoot Conference, Loren Coleman is going to release details of a $1 million reward to "to encourage the public to assist in the safe capture of a Bigfoot, Yeti, Lake Monster, Sea Serpent, or other cryptozoological specimen".

If you can't make the Texas Bigfoot Conference, and are interested, Loren will also be making the announcement at the Bates College Cryptozoology Symposium later this month.

For those of you who can't make the convention or symposium, don't fret. As soon as the details about the reward are revealed, you can be sure I will post them right here on this blog.

Cryptozoology-related Art Exibit

I am sure some of you remember earlier this summer I reported about Jill Miller, the artist who had a 'performance-installation' (camped out) out in the Northern California wilderness waiting for Bigfoot. She had a live video camera feed to her campsite that she was broadcasting over the Internet.

Well, Jill is participating in an art exhibit at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. The title of the exhibit is Cryptozoology: Out Of Time Place Scale. You can see more about that exhibit here.

Loren Coleman will also be giving a keynote address at the symposium there on October 28-30. Loren has also recently contacted me, and seems interested in my blog here. Loren has agreed to keep in touch with me as his travels permit and hopefully, I can secure an exclusive interview with him sometime in the near future.

Well, it seems that the photos of the giant squid last week has brought Cryptozoology to the mainstream news again.

There is an article about the Giant Squid discovery last week and it also has some of the history of the field of Cryptozoology and various other Cryptozoological discoveries and theories.

This article is somewhat similiar to first article and mentions some of the same things. This article, like the first one, is a typical mainstream news article on Cryptozoology. It very briefly covers many subjects and almost always says the same thing.

Moving on from the Giant Squid, there is one other article about the Bigfoot Fall Festival this past weekend in Oklahoma. The article is mainly quotes from Katie Cogburn, the vice-president of the event.

Giant Squid Caught On Camera -- Alive!

Up until now, the only giant squid we have seen are the dead ones, caught in fisherman's nets.

Well, that has changed.

A group of Japanese scientists have finally caught a live Giant Squid on camera! This marks the first time that a Giant Squid has been caught on film alive!

The link has several photos of the squid that were taken of the coast of Japan in the North Pacific. A length of 25 feet is given for this particular squid. Although, it is known to grow much larger than that.

The story also shows that a portion of one of the squid's tentacles broke off and they were able to raise it to the surface. The piece itself, is quite large.

This is an amazing discovery and I am sure there are a number of researchers out there who may be discouraged that they were not the ones to snap the first pictures of Architeuthis (the Giant Squid).

I tell those researchers; don't be discouraged.

Just move on to the next milestone.... film of a living Giant Squid!

New Cryptozoology TV Show

Earlier today, I was browsing around one of my favorite Cryptozoology-related sites, American Monsters and noticed that they have put up a casting call for their new cable TV show.

I don't know all of the details, as far as the channel or when it will debut, but I will post them as soon as I find out.

Bigfoot Conference Article

I was looking around for a recap or some news from the Bigfoot conference this past weekend and ran across an article with a short summary on what was there.

The article doesn't go into a lot of detail about the conference, just naming a few speakers and a few quotes from their presentations.

I have yet to go one of these Bigfoot conferences and I am curious to know what went on at the PA conference, if anything.

2005 East Coast Bigfoot Conference

For those of you in the Pennsylvania area, remember the East Coast Bigfoot Conference is this weekend.

Also, the Pennsylvania Sun has an article about Bigfoot sightings and Eric Altman who is the director of the PA Bigfoot Societ and a speaker at the convention this weekend.

From reading the article, Eric seems like a grounded person, one who knows a fake when he sees it. This is definitely a good thing, since the subject of Cryptozoology, unfortunately, tends to attract a lot of hoaxers.

I, for one, applaud the real researchers out there in the field, doing the dirty work to get to the bottom of the Bigfoot mystery. Stick with it guys!

Cryptozoological History

I was doing a little searching around the web today and ran across this page on cbc.ca's website.

On the page there are a few Cryptozoology-related videos to watch, mainly dealing with Caddy, Ogopogo and Bigfoot.

What really caught my eye however is the timeline at the top of the page. Clicking that, I noticed that some of the videos go back nearly 50 years.

I found it quite interesting watching a video of a woman describing her sighting of Caddy from 50 years ago and how little these sightings have changed over the years. There have been sightings as recently as the 1990's and their descriptions aren't much different than the one from that video.

Also, each video has a cool "Did You Know" section with them that gives you some history and info into each of the videos as well.

All in all, some great info on that page and I recommend everyone check it out.

Now, those were history lessons I enjoyed sitting through!

Possible Loch Ness Breakthrough

According to some scientists in the UK, a "flesh-like" sample has been taken from the bottom of Loch Ness in Scottland.

There isn't a lot of details in the article, but apparantly the sample may prove that there are large creatures living in depths of the loch.

As some of you may know, for a while now, some scientists have completely written off the possiblilty of large animals in Loch Ness because they believed the ecosystem in the loch could not support them. Basically, they believed there wasn't enough food.

This discovery, if it proves to be from a large animal, could put that ecosystem theory to rest once and for all.

The article also states that the sample is subjected to DNA tests in the UK and here in the US.

Now, I know what some of you are thinking. I shouldn't get this hyped up, it could turn out to be nothing. That is true, we have had a story about a tissue sample before. That sample turned out to be from a normal, identifiable animal.

That is not going to stop me from becoming excited about this discovery though. There is always that chance that this could turn out to be from a large unidentified animal.

The bottom line is that the possiblity exists, and I am glad that some of the science community is finally taking this seriously enough to actually perform tests instead of just discrediting these discoveries right off the bat.

Summer Recap.

Since it seems that news reports relating to Cryptozoology have somewhat died down as of late, I thought I would do a little recap of the some of the summer's bigger stories.

First was the big story about the Manitoba video. I remember all of the hype and hoopla for that video and when it was finally shown.... what a letdown. A long-range, blurry video of a dark blob against some trees. I should have known better to get caught up in that hype. Although, that story and video did bring Bigfoot back into the news.

Which leads to the next big Bigfoot sighting.

The Bigfoot sightings in the Yukon (link is currently unavailable). These sightings were reported by more than a few people in the Yukon region of Canada. What really made this story stand out however, was the the supposeded Sasquatch hair sample that was found after one of the sightings. After several tests, the sample turned out to be just Bison Hair.

Not to be outdone by Bigfoot however, there were quite a few lake monster sightings this summer. A lot of those were in Canada as well.

There was the sighting on Lake Champlain. There was supposedley pictures and videos of this sighting, but I was never able to find them. I don't think they were ever released.

Speaking of unreleased pictures, who can forget the sighting on Lake Massawippi. This was probably the high-point of sightings for me so far this year. Mainly due to the photo enhancement that I did of the photo of "Whippy". Who can forget that lizard-like face peering up out of the water.

One also remembers that I spent many days trying to secure copies of the original photos for enhancing. This was to no avail unfortunately. Although after further scrutiny, the sighting and photos appeared to be a mis-identification and was, most likely, a fish.

These are just a few of the sightings and reports this summer.

As the news keeps coming in, you can be sure that I will post it.

New Deep Sea Camera

There is a new type of camera being used by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration .

The camera, as reported here uses a dim, red light to view the deep sea creatures. This is different than the normal cameras in use today, those use bright lights that could possibly scare away or harm the creatures they are trying to study.

The red light used by the camera is thought to be invisible to creatures of the deep sea. I guess, in theory, making the camera invisble as well.

It seems that they have had some luck with this method already, as the camera was attacked by an previously unknown squid. A large one.

This is exciting becuase this possibly could lead to photographic evidence of many deep sea creatures. Like the Giant Squid for example. Which has never been caught on film alive. Well, not in adult form.

Who knows what discoveries this technology could lead to. Hopefully, there will be some exciting results from this. One can hope.

More Whippy Photos

Following a reader's suggestion, I captured a few screenshots from the news video about Whippy.

Before you get your hopes up, please know that these pictures are not the high-res versions I have been waiting for. They are about the same resolution as the first picture I posted a few days ago. Also, I have enlarged these images a bit to make them easier to work with. Other than the enlargement, they have not been enhanced at all.

Let's take a look, shall we?

I have a few more captured images, but they are either too blurry or not enough is visible to warrant me posting them.

So, after looking at these pictures what do I think? Well, they look nothing like the original one, that is for sure. They almost look like they were taken of different things at different times. More likely however, is that they were taken of the same animal, just from different angles.

After studying these images, I am beginning to think this sighting may have just been a large Sturgeon or Pike in the lake.

Even though the original image I posted a few days ago is still very compelling and cannot be easily discarded, the 2nd and 3rd images here are more fish like and the 4th image looks like it could just be the back of a fish breaking the surface.

The fact is, the images are just not that great. With images of this quality, it is basically just a guessing game. The low resolution and blurriness in the images makes it hard to discern any details at all.

Alas, with it looking more and more likely that I will not be able to get my hands on the original pics, these may be the best we will ever have in this case.

Although, I am leaning towards a misidentification in this case, I guess we have to put this one down as another inconclusive sighting.

Now, on to the next sighting...

The Wait for Whippy

It seems my recent posting, with the enhanced picture of what is purported to be a lake monster is turning a few heads (pun not intended). Unfortunately, I have yet to secure any higher-resolution photos to perform enhancements on.

Mr. Stafford, the innkeeper who supposedely has the photos has not responded to my emails. I have also contacted the news outlet that first ran the story. I am waiting to hear back from them as well.

I know there are more pictures than just this one, as the the news story on CTV.ca's website has a video link to a short segment that shows multiple photos of what appears to be the creature's head. The photos appear to be from different angles and would be extremely helpful in trying to determine what this animal might be.

It's quite frustrating to know these photos are out there, yet I can't get a hold of them. I am still holding out hope that the news station will be of some help, so stay tuned.

Chupacabra Caught?

While I am waiting to hear back from the Innkeeper in Canada who has pictures of Whippy, I thought I would share this bit of news with you.

It appears that a farmer in Texas thinks he has caught a Chupacabra on his farm.

The article has pictures and a video I have yet to watch. Judging from the pictures though, it looks like he has caught nothing more than a small coyote or some type of fox.

If it is a Chupacabra, I, for one am disappointed. I was expecting a much more menacing creature, with large fangs and wings. This thing looks like a little, emaciated dog.

Oh well, I guess we will know for sure soon enough. He has sent the carcass to be tested to determine the species.

...Poor doggy...

Whippy Photo Enhancement

After posting this story about Whippy yesterday, I decided to take another look at the photo posted in the news article.

I ran it through an enlargement process using some special software and adjusted the contrast in the area of the image that is supposed to be the creature's head. What I came up with surprised me. Let's just say I may have been a bit premature in calling it a floating log...

Take a look at the enlarged, enhanced photo for yourself:

Looking at this enhancement, one can easily make out an eye, a nostril hole and what appears to be a mouth slit.

The overall look somewhat resembles a porpoises head. Although, the unmistakable reptilian appearance and lack of a blowhole does put that explanation in doubt.

I can confidently now say that I believe the photo is of some type of animal and not a log as I suggested the other day.

New Champ Sighting

From the looks of it, lake monster sightings are picking up as of late. From Lake Okanagan in Canada yesterday to Lake Champlain in Vermont today.

The difference in this story is that the person who had the sighting was actually able to capture it on video. The story doesn't show the video, but I am sure it will surface(no pun intended) online soon.

Once it does, you can be sure I will put a link to it in this blog.

It seems that Canada has been a hot-bed of Cryptozoology-related news recently. With the Bigfoot sighting reports in the Yukon and the purported Bigfoot tape from Manitoba being the two major attention-grabbers.

Even with Bigfoot getting all of the attention lately, there is some news from Quebec about a supposed creature that resides Massawippi, commonly known in the area as "Whippy".

The story includes a picture that from all appearances is of a floating log. I do like to keep an open mind however, so let's wait and see if there are any more photos or even better, video.

Skunk Ape Expedition.

A lot of people think that all Bigfoot sightings come from the Pacific Northwest and Canada. Not true.

There are Bigfoot sightings all across the country, from every state. Does this mean every state has an unknown primate roaming through the woods? No. A lot of sightings can probably be categorized as mis-identification.

There are however, a few states across the country that have had significantly more sightings than others. Some that come to mind are: Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Wisconsin, New York and Florida.

Focusing in on Florida, there are reports of what people in the area call the "Skunk Ape", of course due to it's foul odor.

This fall, there is going to be an expedition into the Florida swampland to search for the Skunk Ape.

Now, even though I am a bit more skeptical about an unknown primate in Florida than in, say Texas or the Pacific Northwest, I still wish the expedition well and will try to contact the organizer to see if they would like some of the sightings or findings posted on this blog.

Hopefully, I can get some exclusive field reports. Stay tuned!

Happy Camp Update

It appears that there are some developments in the Happy Camp, CA expedition to not only find Bigfoot but to capture it(him/her).

As you remember, Tom Biscardi is running the expedition and now it appears he is featuring the Happy Camp Expedition on his video-streaming website.

The charge is $15 per week or $60 for the full 90-day expedition. This is supposedly to help cover the cost of the expedition. Which, I guess is understandable. I just can't help feeling that this is just another ploy for someone to make a buck of the legend of Bigfoot.

Now, if they asked for donations, that would be different. Forcing people to pay $15 a week to watch a bunch of guys in the woods; I just don't see people paying that.

I don't know what it is, but this expedition leaves somewhat of a bad taste in my mouth. I hope they come up with some legitimate evidence and make me change my mind.

TV show thoughts

So, I watched that TV show about the lake monsters. It was pretty good actually. There was some new info that I had not seen before as well as some video and pics of Ogopogo that I had not seen as well.

Of course, there were no revelations or anything like that, but all in all, it was a good show.

If there is one thing I did get from the show, is that there are a lot of people living around these lakes that spot these creatures. I may try and contact a few of the people in these areas that collect these sightings to see if they would like some of the sightings and stories posted on this blog.

That is if these people don't have blogs already.

Let's see what I can find.

The Test Results Are Done and the Hair Sample is...

Bison Hair.

Yep, the supposed Bigfoot hair sample turned out to be from an ordinary, deceased Bison.

This news is somewhat disappointing, but not entirely unexpected.

Now, mainstream science can go back to their close-minded views when it comes to Cryptozoology. It's amazing how one small hair sample can turn out to be from an ordinary animal and then the scientist can say "Let's let this thing die a natural death, let the world move [on]".

Somehow the DNA results from this one hair sample single-handedly cancels out the decades of eye witness accounts, the tracks, the videos, the pictures, the sound recordings..... Etc.

Also, these results will undoubtedly lead to the discrediting of all of the witnesses in the Yukon area that believe they saw Bigfoot. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am sure these people can tell the difference between a Bison and an unknown primate.

As a matter of a fact, the last time I checked, Bison don't walk around on two legs.

Yukon Bigfoot Hair Sample Update.

It appears that the DNA tests are done on the supposed Bigfoot hair sample that was discovered in the Yukon recently.

The University of Alberta is slated to release the test results sometime later today. I will post them here as soon as they are available.

This could be a huge story, so watch this space!

Join a Bigfoot Expedition.

For those of you out there who want to do more than just read about Bigfoot on the Internet or watch something about it on TV, then here's your chance.

The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization allows people to join them on various expeditions throughout the US.

There is a fee involved, but the price can be lowered by bringing your own transportation, food, lodging (tents, sleeping bags etc.) and equipment. All of the details on are the site, linked above.

I just recently discovered this and thought it was really kind of cool that people like you and me can join them in these expeditions. Of course, anyone can go out looking for Bigfoot, but who would want to do that alone? Not me.

So, if you are interested check out the site and sign up. If you do go on an expedition and want to report your trip, let me know in the comments section and I can start posting some of stories from your expeditions.

Yukon Bigfoot Update

Some of you may have heard of the story of a Bigfoot-type creature being spotted in the Yukon recently. Well, one of the sightings resulted in a clump of hair being found. The hair, purported to be from Bigfoot, was inspected and was said to resemble Bison hair and that further tests would need to be done to definitively determine the origin of the sample.

Well, it appears the University of Alberta in Canada has picked up the challenge. A professor at the university, David Goldman, is performing DNA tests on the hair. Results are expected as early as tomorrow.

This could be a huge scientific discovery if the tests show it came from an unknown animal. This might just be the jump-start that mainstream science needs to start taking the subject seriously.

Then again, it might just be Bison hair.

The Recent Surge of Crypto News

It seems that Cryptozoology is getting out there in a big way recently, mostly due to numerous sightings of Bigfoot. The recent surge of interest is mostly due to the Manitoba sighting and video and the recent sightings in the Yukon.

These Bigfoot sightings and videos have generated a lot of interest in the subject lately, so much so that Yahoo had a section about Cryptozoology on their main page a few days ago.

While I am concerned that this new-found buzz in Bigfoot and the like could cause more hoaxes and pranksters, I think that any legitimate interest in the subject is definitely a good thing.

The site was created by an artist and has live video feeds from a campsite in Northern California.

I was looking around on one of my favorite message boards and noticed some posts about the Bigfoot expedition that I mentioned below. One of the posters, going by the name of BigWyrm was listening to Tom Biscardi on the Coast to Coast radio show. According to BigWyrm, Mr. Biscardi directed the listeners to happycampnews. As does the link from the earlier story about the expedition below.

After visiting the link, BigWyrm clicked one of the sponsors.

Coincidence that one of the sponsors has a very convincing Bigfoot costume for sale?

For now, I will give the expedition the benefit of the doubt.

Let's see what comes from this.

Mysterious Encounters

Lately, I have been watching a show on the OLN TV network. It is called Mysterious Encounters. This show exclusively deals with Sasquatch/Bigfoot related sightings across the country. The team, lead by Autumn Williams, drives around the country in their RV and stakes out areas that are purported to have Bigfoot-type sightings.

If you've seen the show, you know that some of the production values are lacking. There is some pretty cheesy music too. However, what it lacks in those categories, it makes up for it in others.

While watching the show, I wasn't even aware that some of the areas the team investigated had Bigfoot sightings. Such as New York State, as well as a few episodes in Oklahoma and Texas. The main thing that impresses me about the show is the technology they use in their investigations. A lot of high-end infrared cameras, motion-sensor cameras, cameras attached to a remote-controlled blimp, among other snazzy gadgets. Obviously there is some money going into these investigations.

Even with all of those gadgets, their investigations always come up inconclusive and the team usually leaves with little to no evidence at all that an unknown primate may be in the area. Still, the show is entertaining and I really dig it. My Tivo is set to record any episode that comes on.

So, check out the show. If you are even remotely interested in unknown primates or the Bigfoot phenomena, I think you will really like it.

Happy Camp Bigfoot Expedition

It appears that there was an expedition to capture Bigfoot in Happy Camp, California a few weeks ago. Apparently C. Thomas Biscardi (the person heading the expedition) is very confident that he will locate and capture the creature.

I am a bit skeptical about his claim, but we will see what comes of this... if anything.
